Luxury resort • Jaipur

Overview

About this property

The Oberoi Rajvilas is a luxury resort in Jaipur, set in large gardens. It is not a city hotel. It feels more like a quiet retreat, with villas and luxury tents spread across the grounds, and peacocks and birds around you in the morning.

The resort is built in a royal Rajasthani style, with courtyards, fountains and pink stone. Everything is spread out, so you never feel crowded. You walk from your villa to the restaurant through gardens, not corridors.

This is a good place for people who want a special stay. Couples on a honeymoon, families marking an occasion, or anyone who wants two quiet days away from the city rush will like it here. It is also a good place to simply rest, with no fixed plan.

The Oberoi name means service is taken seriously here. Staff are polite, things move on time, and small details are looked after. If you like comfort and calm, and you do not mind paying for it, this resort is hard to beat in Jaipur.

Rooms

Villas and tents to rest in

Instead of normal hotel rooms, Rajvilas has villas and luxury tents. They are large, with their own sitting space and a bathroom that feels more like a small spa. Some villas come with their own private pool, as listed on the hotel's official website.

The tents are not the camping kind. They are large, with proper beds, a bathroom and air cooling. They give you the feel of a royal camp, but with all the comfort of a hotel room.

If you want a private pool villa, ask the hotel about it when you book, as only some villas have one. Room types and prices change with the season, so the hotel's own website will have the latest list.

Food & drink

Where to eat

The main restaurant here is Surya Mahal. It is a large, beautiful dining room, and meals here feel like an occasion. There is also a bar on site for a quiet drink in the evening.

If you are staying in a villa, you can also ask about eating in your own space. The resort is spread out, so a meal in your villa garden can be a nice change from the restaurant.

One small tip: if you are here for one night only, plan at least one dinner at Surya Mahal. The food and the room together are a big part of why people come to Rajvilas.

Things to do

A slow day at the resort

A day at Rajvilas starts with birdsong and a walk in the gardens. After breakfast, the temperature-controlled pool is the best place to be. It is warm enough to swim in even when the weather is cool.

In the afternoon, the spa, Asmi by Oberoi, is there for a massage or a quiet treatment. Yoga and meditation are also available, which suits the slow pace of this place very well.

In the evening, Rajvilas is at its most beautiful. The sun goes down over the gardens, the lamps come on along the paths, and the resort feels quiet and private. Walk slowly back to your villa or tent, and take your time. Dinner at Surya Mahal is worth dressing up a little for, as the room itself is part of the evening. After dinner, sit outside your villa for a while and listen to the night sounds. There is no city noise here, only birds and wind in the trees. The next morning, wake up early for a walk before breakfast, when the gardens are cool and empty. That early hour is when Rajvilas feels most special.

Location

Where it is, and what is near

All the hotels on this page are in Jaipur city. From here, the old city is easy to reach by taxi. The Hawa Mahal, the City Palace and the markets of the old city are the places most visitors go to first. Amber Fort is a little further out, and it is worth half a day on its own.

If you are coming by taxi from Delhi, your driver will drop you at the hotel gate. For going around Jaipur the next day, you can book a taxi for the full day, or take short trips one by one. Cheapcab runs Delhi to Jaipur taxis, and local Jaipur trips can be arranged with the hotel or a local driver.

We have not written distances here on purpose. Road work and traffic change travel time in Jaipur, so a fixed number would go out of date fast. Ask your driver for the time on the day you travel.

If this is your first time in Jaipur, these are the places most people visit: Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Jal Mahal, and the old city markets like Johari Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar. You do not need to see all of them in one day. Pick two or three, and keep the rest for your next visit.

Getting here

How to reach the hotel

Most guests reach Jaipur by road from Delhi. The drive is about 300 km on a good highway, and most people leave in the morning and reach Jaipur by the afternoon. If you leave late, you will reach in the evening, which is also fine, as the hotels are easy to find and the staff are there at all hours.

If you come by train or flight, you will reach Jaipur station or Jaipur airport first. From there, a short taxi ride takes you to the hotel. Keep the hotel name and address ready on your phone, and share it with your driver before you start. That avoids confusion at the end of a long journey.

One practical tip: if you are booking a taxi from Delhi, book it a day early. Morning pickups get booked fast, and a confirmed booking means you do not have to bargain with drivers at the last minute. Cheapcab takes 20 percent advance, and the rest you pay after your trip.

Best time

Best time to visit Jaipur

The best time to visit Jaipur is from October to March. The weather is cool and pleasant, and you can walk around the old city without getting tired fast. This is also the time when most tourists come, so hotels get full early. If you plan to come in these months, book your hotel a few weeks ahead.

April to June is very hot in Jaipur. If you come in summer, plan your sightseeing for the morning and evening, and rest in the afternoon. The palace gardens are still nice in the early morning, before the heat builds up.

July to September brings rain. The city looks green and fresh, and there are fewer tourists. Roads can get wet, so keep some extra time for travel. For a quiet trip at a lower rush, the rainy season is actually a good choice.

Good to know

Before you book

Cheapcab does not book hotels. You book a hotel on its own official website, using the button on this page. Prices, room types, check-in time and cancellation rules are all on the hotel's site, and they change with the season. Always read them there before you pay.

The photos on this page are from the hotel's official website, and the source link is given under the photo gallery. We do not use photos from booking sites or stock photo sites for hotels.

If you need a taxi to reach the hotel, or to go around Jaipur after you arrive, you can book it from Cheapcab. The taxi fare and the hotel stay are separate. Your taxi driver will not charge you for the hotel, and the hotel will not charge you for the taxi.

One last practical tip for Jaipur: carry a water bottle and wear comfortable shoes, as the old city is best seen on foot and the days get hot. Keep your hotel's name and address saved on your phone, so any taxi driver can take you back without confusion. Small shops in the markets often prefer cash, so keep some small notes handy along with your card.
