Overview

About this property

The Westin Pushkar Resort & Spa is a luxury resort on Motisar Road, surrounded by the Aravali hills. Its own site calls it a haven of wellness and renewal, and the resort is built around that idea — villas instead of hotel floors, a full spa, and open spaces with sunsets over the hills.

The villas are the point of staying here. They come with plush furnishings and Westin White Tea Heavenly Bath Amenities, and select villas have their own plunge pools. The gallery shows villas with balconies, living areas and bathrooms that look more like a small house than a hotel room.

Food and wellness share the spotlight. The resort's own site mentions distinctive restaurants with flavorful cuisine and soulful food, and a full menu of signature therapies at the Heavenly Spa by Westin. After a day of sightseeing, the spa and a quiet dinner are the resort's way of ending the day.

The resort also hosts meetings, weddings and social events in sophisticated spaces, according to its own site. And its location suits sightseeing: the Holy Lake, Sadar Bazaar, the annual Camel Fair, the Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and the Brahma Temple are all listed as nearby attractions.

Rooms

Villas, not hotel rooms

The resort's gallery names three villa types: Luxury Villas, Premier Villas and Royal Villas. Premier Villas come with views and balconies, and the gallery shows both twin and king layouts. Royal Villas are the largest — the gallery shows a Royal Villa with a king bed, a living area and its own outdoor pool.

Every villa has plush furnishings and Westin White Tea Heavenly Bath Amenities, according to the resort's own site. Select villas add a plunge pool, which is the feature to ask for if you want to swim without going to the main pool.

The villas suit couples and families who want space and quiet. A villa with a balcony over the Aravalis beats a standard hotel room for a Pushkar stay, especially in the cooler months when you can sit outside morning and evening.

Villa types and prices change with the season, so the resort's own website will have the latest list. We do not show prices here because they change often, and we do not want to show you an old price.

Food & drink

Where to eat

The resort's own site talks about distinctive restaurants with flavorful cuisine and soulful food, served against beautiful sunsets and serene natural elements. For a resort stay, that is the practical picture: you eat well without leaving the resort.

Outside the resort, Pushkar town is strictly vegetarian and dry, so the rooftop cafes by the lake are the move for lunch or sunset chai. The resort's own restaurants are the easier choice for dinner, especially after a spa session or a long day out.

For the latest restaurant names, menus and meal timings, the resort's website is the right place to check. We do not name restaurants here because the resort's overview page does not list them by name.

Things to do

A day of lake, temples and spa

A good day at the Westin starts at Pushkar Lake and the ghats in the morning, when pilgrims bathe and the town is at its most alive. The Brahma Temple, one of the very few Brahma temples in India, is the morning's main stop, and Sadar Bazaar is the market walk after it.

In the afternoon, come back to the resort for the pool or the Heavenly Spa. Pushkar's middle of the day is hot for much of the year, and a resort afternoon — plunge pool, spa therapy, a quiet villa balcony — is the sensible way to spend it.

In the evening, Savitri Temple by ropeway gives sunset views over the lake and the desert edge. Then dinner at the resort, with the Aravali sunset the resort's own site promises, ends the day well.

If you have a second day, Ajmer is a short drive away: the Dargah Sharif of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in the morning, Ana Sagar Lake and Daulat Bagh gardens after it, and back to Pushkar for the evening. The resort's own site also lists an airport shuttle to Kishangarh and Jaipur airports, on request.

Location

Where it is, and what is near

Pushkar is a small temple town built around a sacred lake, ringed by 52 bathing ghats. The town is compact — the lake, the ghats and the temples are all within walking distance of each other, and most hotels sit a short walk or drive from the water.

The town's most famous temple is the Brahma Temple, one of the very few temples to Brahma in India. Savitri Temple sits on a hilltop above town and is reached by ropeway, with sunset views over the lake and the desert edge. Rangji Temple, built in a Rajasthani style, is the other temple most visitors stop at.

Pushkar is strictly vegetarian and dry — alcohol and non-veg food are banned in town. That shapes the town's eating: rooftop cafes by the lake serve vegetarian food with lake views, and sunset chai at a lakeside cafe is the town's evening ritual.

Getting here

How to reach the hotel

Pushkar does not have its own airport or major station. The nearest airport is Kishangarh, about 49 km from the Pushkar resort area, and Jaipur airport is about 160 km away. Ajmer Junction is the nearest big railway station, and Pushkar has a small station of its own.

By road, Pushkar is about 15 km off the Delhi–Ajmer highway (NH-48) — Ajmer is the turn-off, and the lake town is a short drive beyond it. Our Delhi–Ajmer taxi routes end at Ajmer; Pushkar is the last short leg from there.

Best time

Best time to visit Pushkar

October to March is the best time for Pushkar. The weather is cool enough for walking the ghats and the old town, and the town is at its liveliest.

The Pushkar Fair in Kartik (around November) is the one window everyone asks about — the camel fair, the markets and the crowds all peak together. If you want to come during the fair, plan months ahead, because rooms fill early.

Good to know

Before you book

Pushkar is a temple town, so plan around its rules: no alcohol and no non-veg food anywhere in town. If you want either, Ajmer city — 15 km away — has licensed shops and a wider choice of eateries.

Dress modestly around the ghats and temples, and expect shoes-off areas at the temples. The ghats are busiest in the morning and evening, when pilgrims bathe and the aarti happens.

Carry cash for small expenses in the old town's lanes and markets. The town is small and walkable, but the lanes around the lake are narrow — a car stays parked while you walk.
